Doves Science: Recipe Developers
In Science, we have been studying human biology. More specifically, we are now studying the components of blood.
To begin our topic, we completed an investigation. I created fake blood and challenged the class to recreate it perfectly. The only sticking point was that I gave them an incomplete recipe and they had to progressively increase the amount of either: flour, water, red-food colouring or golden syrup to find the perfect ratio required to replicate my solution. The children did remarkably well at this and very accurately predicted the ingredients. Next week, we will, using hama beads, chocolate sprinkles, custard and water, create a more accurate representation of blood focusing on: RBCs, WBCs, platelets and plasma.
