Comparing Nurses
After learning about our 3 famous nurses - Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell, the children worked in small groups to compare them. What was similar about them and what was different?
The children came up with some fantastic ideas! Here are just a few of the similarities and differences that the children suggested:
Similarities:
-They were all nurses
-They were all women
-They were all born in the 19th century
-They all helped soldiers wounded in war
Differences:
-Edith helped soliders in WW1 but Mary and Florence helped soldiers in the Crimean War
-Mary was born in Jamaica. Florence and Edith were born in England
-Mary used her own money to set up the British Hotel. Edith and Florence worked in hospitals that were already built
